2. The 5 Second Rule
The 5 Second Rule by Mel Robbins states that when you have an idea or instinct that needs to be worked on, you must physically move to start acting on it within 5 seconds, or your brain will kill the idea. This is because your brain wants to protect you from anything scary, uncertain or new.

3. The 3-3-3 Method
Oliver Burkeman M 3-3-3 method in involves:
- Spending 3 hours on your most important current project
- Completing 3 shorter tasks/ urgent to-dos that may be a few mins each
- Dedicating some time for 3 ‘maintenance activities’ that need daily attention to keep life in order
4. The 10 Minute Rule
The 10-minute rule is a cognitive behavioral therapy technique where you set a goal of doing what you’ve been avoiding for only 5-10 mins. If after 10 mins you want to stop, you can. However, most people find that after 5-10 minutes of doing something, the task feels less overwhelming and it’s easy to keep going until it is done.
5. The two task to-do list
Every day, limit your to-do list to only two big/ important tasks you will accomplish for the day. Instead of overpromising and under-delivering (which leads to a lot of self-loathing) write down only what you will really do that day.
